Yuliia Dubnevych
Freelance Illustrator & Character Designer

Hi there!

I’m Yuliia, though online and in my art I go by the name OswaldJane - it’s the name I use across all my social platforms.I’m a digital illustrator with a passion for character-driven art, especially in the world of books - fantasy, romance, dark tales, and everything in between. I work primarily on an iPad Pro and focus on bringing emotion, detail, and story into every piece. When I’m not drawing for clients, I enjoy reading (especially fantasy and romance), playing video games, watching series, traveling, drawing just for fun, and spending quality time with my family.I’ve worked with both indie and traditionally published authors, and I love creating art that captures the heart of a story. If your project needs expressive characters, lush settings, and a touch of magic - let’s work together!

Frequently Asked Questions

Art journey

- How did you learn to draw?

I’m self-taught and have been drawing for as long as I can remember. But I started taking it seriously when I was 14, after discovering the artist burdge-bug and her fanart for the books I loved at the time (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Mortal Instruments, etc).
I used to draw with anything I could find, later moved to markers, and eventually got my first drawing tablet and shifted to digital art.
I watched a lot of speedpaints and process videos from other artists, learning little by little and improving over time.
Even now, I continue to grow by analyzing the works of others to understand how they achieved certain effects - and how I can bring similar touches into my own illustrations.

- How did you become an illustrator?

I never considered illustration as a career when I was younger - in Ukraine, the industry wasn’t very developed, so it felt like an impossible dream.
Later in university, while studying something completely different, I saw some international artists online working professionally in this field. That’s when I decided to give it a try.
I started with platforms like Upwork and Fiverr, while also trying to grow my visibility on social media. Now, all of my clients come through Instagram - but I truly believe that this is still only the beginning of my artistic journey!

Commissions

- Do you accept private/personal commissions?

Yes, absolutely! I take on both personal and commercial commissions.
You can find full details and pricing on the Commission Info page.

- What is a commercial license/licensing fee?

When commissioning artwork for commercial use, you’re purchasing a license to use the illustration, not the full copyright.
The license covers specific usage (like promotion or merchandise) and may include limits such as duration, scope, or exclusivity.

- What’s the difference between personal and commercial use?

Personal use: For non-commercial purposes (e.g. printing for yourself, sharing online with credit).
Commercial use: For anything involving promotion, publishing, or monetization (e.g. book covers, interior illustrations, marketing material). Commercial licenses come with an additional fee.

- Can I get on a waiting list?

If commissions are open - yes! Just message me via email or Instagram, and I’ll be happy to add you to the list.

- How long does it take you to complete a commission?

Usually a minimum of 1–2 weeks, depending on complexity and whether there’s a deadline.
Projects with a set deadline are my priority. Bear in mind that you will be charged a "rush fee" if the deadline is very close for a bigger project.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you are looking to get something completed in a shorter time frame.
If your project has no deadline, it might take longer.
